Brennerei Guglhof

Day took us to Hallein to see the Brennerei Guglhof Distillery, which was originally a family farm, but now a fulltime distillery. We were very fortunate that my Dad's cousin Manfred was friends with the owner/proprietor, as he was able to arrange a privet tour for us. The pictures that follow are of the property, including the distillery , the storehouse and their tasting room/store.

I was only aware of their Single Malt Whisky, but they also make a marvelous Gin and Sloe Gin, along with an array of brandy's. But I have to tell you that when we walked into the storehouse, it smelled like a sweet paradise. Oh.....that wholesome goodness!

The whiskey is made with a local winter rye which is tougher to survive the mountain winters.
