Berchtesgaden - Königssee

Berchtesgaden was on the tour as well and where the tour would have stopped for lunch, but the entire town was closed to all traffic due to the celebration of it's 500th year of salt mining. This provide great for us as the restaurant we stopped in Germany was fantastic, it was along the road, but had a beautiful tree covered beer garden in front, making a truly relaxing break. I had a really terrific red wine with a wonderful Goulash, unfortunately we were only allotted fifty minutes for lunch, which forced me to leave some of the wine behind. The tour would finish in Berchtesgaden at around 5pm for a thirty minute coffee break, but after ten minutes of waiting for our coffee to arrive we left and walked around bit, which gave me a chance to snap a few pictures before re-boarding our tour bus. And by the way, this was a real classy tour, in that they provided bottle water, beer and wine, which could be purchased from the driver. The cooler funnily enough was located in the dashboard of the bus, so in effect it was like a beer cooler glove box.

The water has a green tint to it and so clean that you could see the bottom of the lake at the shore line.

Note the small finish that you can see through the crystal clear water.
